Groomsmen praying before ceremony
Bride and Groom on the road at Pitt Lake BC

it was a smokey, mid-august morning~

The sky was golden and glowing, the sun a red ball in the sky. Deer pranced by the front window as Emily and her tribe of ladies got ready for the day. The room filled with a tangible anticipation and joy. We heard the engines of dirt bikes roaring passed the windows, and with laughter one of the girls pointed out it was in fact, Cole, riding around with the guys. The morning was completely void of any stress or worry, but just honest excitement, love, and worship. It was the calmest morning of a wedding I’ve ever been a part of.

The ceremony, held beneath towering trees in the back field, was simple, sweet, and focused on their love with each other and with God. They worshipped with their friends and family before sealing their marriage with a kiss. From there the energy was ELECTRIC! Every person seated stood up and clapped after the newlyweds trotted down the aisle, there was nothing but pure celebration from this point on.

We got to take a breather with the bridal party and Em and Cole at Pitt Lake and Swaneset Golf Club, where we did their portraits. It was the most perfect afternoon. Everything was glowing, purple flowers filled the lower fields of Pitt Lake, and the ROMANCE. When I tell you I barely even prompted these two to get all lovey-dovey I mean it. They brought the spiiiice.

Their reception was back at their parent’s property, a homemade taco dinner awaited the guests, under twinkling lights as the sun started to set. There were speeches filled with laughter, tears, and beautiful testimonies. And then….they danced the night away. Maybe it’s because it had been so long of Covid, of people not being able to gather, that made this night extra special, and made you feel like this whole group were old friends, or maybe it was just that Cole and Em are such a light in their community, and all of their loved ones were just so freaking happy for them, and so full of love.

Here’s some of my favourite moments from this intimate and dreamy day:
